The actual pouch is a supple yet very strong 4 to 5 oz smooth grain veg/chrome re-tan leather--so getting it wet is no problem, except for the contents if you, say, fall in a lake or get handed a sword by some watery tart.... The straps and hidden hard back are made of a stiff and sturdy strap leather to keep its structure.  The laces are highest grade lace available.
