Mom chose a background fabric that has the look of pale yellow water color with random dots of a bit darker beige/yellow. This fabric, combined with the applique design gives an heirloom look to the quilt. There are nine 16-inch squares with the red cockscomb flowers, which are done with a deep, rich tone-on-tone red floral. The stems and bases of the flowers are a cream-on-green print. The little berries are in the red. The petaled flowers throughout are done in a red and earthtones floral print. Mom used a 9-inch border which features a necklace-like look with green ovals and the red-centered print flowers.  Mom backed the quilt with the same pale yellow fabric, and bound it with the red fabric. The quilt measures about 89x89 inches square. This will graciously fit a Full bed. For ease of reference, a Full mattress measures 54 x 75, so you can figure what the drop would be on the sides and foot. Mom prewashes all of her fabric, sews by machine, and quilts on her long-arm quilting machine. She hand binds. The price reflects the amount of tedious work involved with the applique. Place a Bid!
