Double stitched with Blue thread. 24 by 21 pieces for a total of 504 individual pieces. I first designed and hand cut a wall tapestry using worn denim blue jeans in 2004. A friend complimented my creation and requested that I create another one. A unique business with a unique product was born! Today my creations are used as tapestries, coverings, and quilts. All of my creations are made from used denim jeans previously worn by people from the USA. Used denim jeans are collected and shipped to my studio where artisans transform them into my creations. All are unique and carefully assembled with my artistic philosophy. The finished strength and durability of our creations is as good as a pair of new denim jeans purchased today. All individual denim pieces are hand cut, serged (to prevent edge fraying) and then sewn together using up to ten miles of thread. The result is a very strong product that can be machine washed and dried. Washing can be done with non-chlorine bleach when needed. Drying can be done in a dryer but we recommend line drying for those who want our products to last decades or much more. All serged pieces are completed with a double needle stitch overall. Just flip over to the reverse side and you can see the quality of our creations. Some of our larger creations are made from over three thousand individually cut pieces from over a hundred different brands of denim blue jeans! Much time and effort is put into every one and all are unique pieces of art. Many of my creations use random patterns that are easy on the eye with elegance, originality, and utility. All are unique with a palette of blue denim shades only possible using previously worn denim jeans. Worn denim jeans provide subtle shade differences as the color of no two worn pair of used denim jeans are exactly alike. A kaleidoscope of blue denim shades! Many of the used denim jeans we use were formerly acid washed, ravaged, aged, stonewashed, and distressed which add another dimension to our creations. Our creations are currently finished with a double stitch that uses either blue, white, red or traditional orange thread. Used since 1873 this traditional orange thread was used to sew Levi Strauss blue jeans to match the copper rivets that doubled the durability of the jeans at that time.   Used denim jeans arrive at our studio where they are washed and sun dried. After ironing they are sorted prior to the cutting process. During cutting we screen for holes, tears, and stains and hand cut around these imperfections. We do not use any chemicals in the production of our creations and we never use new denim pieces. 100% used denim with no cheap batting, insert or backing is used. For those who wish to use as a bed cover then we recommend 300-400 thread count cotton sheet as an insert. Our creations have utility but most of our customers have been hanging them on the wall! We believe that we are the finest denim quilt makers in the world in terms of artism with durability and functionalty. Cutting is done by hand as is the process of joining the sections which we do with 50+ year old Singer sewing machines. Our logo below is stitched into all of our creations.
