If you couldn't walk, then you could sit to spin. The wheel has a 34" table and 24" diameter wheel. It measures 35" tall and the box is 14". Quills came from corn husks or plaited straw to fit over the spindle. When the quill was full, it would be placed in a weaving shuttle or bobbin. The quill box can be moved to adjust tension on the drive belt. The bone inserts on the quill box indicates this wheel has seen much use. It is a beautifully made example and would be a prize addition to a spinning wheel collection.
