Description
A staple among glassblowers in the uk and some of europe as well. Jencons turret head glass blowing torch has 6 different heads that can be moved to suit the nessasary size flame needed. A very rare treat to see in the usa.(even a rarer treat to see one avaliable) This burner currently costs over $1000 usd + the hefty shipping cost to get it over to the states. This torch is in great shape and works great. Will give the new owner many many years of trouble free use. Valves work good and do not leak. This torch has 6 seperate heads that can be used by simply rotating the head. If you wish to change the tip size while you are working ( to accomodate larger or smaller work) simply turn the pilot knob ( and a pilot flame appears in the dead center of the torch) turn off the gas and oxy knobs, rotate head, turn knobs back on, turn off pilot knob. The size tips range from very small/fine piloted tip, to a very large tip capable of melting almost any size glass you put in front of it. ( with in reason.-ie under 80mm standard) The smallest tip produces the finest little needle type flame i have ever seen. ( far better than any national piloted tip, carlisle, or knight. Even better than Herbert Arnold's small piloted premix tip) It is the best small piloted tip...PERIOD! This torch was designed for scientific glass blowers, but is well accepted by most glass artists and pipe makers alike. This torch is ment to work Borosilicate glass only. As premixed torches are the hottest torches avaliable, great care must be used when working cadmium based boro colors ( or any other color that boils easy) The built in tool on the side of the torch ( the V and half sphere) are a remarkable tool, that can be adjusted to any position you like. These can be used for forming, constricting or "cutting" ( cutting. You run the glass ( where you want cut) in the V or 1/2 sphere. You then can either tap off at the score. Or can drip a drop of water or 2 on the spot than tap it off. It works so well, that another glass equipment company(here in the states) started making the V in a table mount version (as it really is a great tool to have) This torch is adjustable both up and down.( by tightening or losening the leaver on the side of the torch) Because this torch has no soldered internal parts, it is impossible to have an internal melt down. Meaning as long as you dont abuse the tips (ie hit them with a hammer or drop on the floor) this torch should out live all of us.Last but not least what really sets this torch apart is that it has built in flash arrestors inside the torch. This is the only glass blowing torch ( in the world) that has built in flash arrestors. (as with the very large tips, they are very much a necesesity) This torch has a place on the bench and lathe alike. A premix torch is the best suited torch for fuming ( it gives a far greater range of colors than a surface mix torch does. and is far easier to fume with) Joints and seams, fine detail and repair work. These torches can be used for any form of glass blowing, From pipe(and water pipe) making, marble making, sci work, beads and pendents ect ect. When using the right tip, you can make almost any glass lampworked item you have ever seen. I once saw a glass blower make a 35 section 22" vase with nothing more than a small single hole gas-oxy tip ( #2 tip on this torch and a full days worth of time) I have also seen a UK glass artist use one of these torches to make a (dimensions are aprox) 14" tall, 20" long, 2-4" wide solid glass horse. ( that weighed at least 4-6lbs) This torch can be used for working, annealing, prewarming, and warming glass tubes ( and rods). As far as other applications, glass artists, glass pipe makers, professionals and novices a like will find this burner very beneficial to have. Because this is a premix torch Osha requires premix torches to have at least check valves to meet osha guidelines. However this torch actually has flash arrestors built into the torch. ( these are the only glass blowing torches in the world to have these built into the torch.) Check valves at the tanks may(would) be recomended, but are not required. This torch runs off of propane gas(or nat gas) and oxygen The ONLY reason I am selling this torch, is that I own 2 of them ( and 30 some other torches) the wife says I need to get rid of some of them. So I am selling off some of the torches I have duplicates of. ( however I will never sell the other one. They are just way to neat ( and useful) to not have at least one of)) We will be listing many other new and used glass blowing equipment and supplies over the next few weeks( months) Some of which is very rare, or no longer in production ( and is highly desirable)Including torches, glass lathes, glass kilns, cut off saws, glass blowing tools ( some of which are exclusive from us) and many other glass blowing related items. If there is something you need/want that is not listed, contact us and we will see about listing it for you, Also if you are in the market for a glass blowing lathe (or glass lathe related equipment), make sure to check with us first. we have the largest selection of used glass lathes ( and parts) for the best price, in North America!
