Description
Shoo Fly Traditional Wall Quilt Sample from the Quilt Book "Back to Basics" by Pat Yamin Pages from the book where this quilt appears: Offered for sale is a Traditional style Wall Quilt called "Philadelphia", a variation on the traditional Shoo-Fly Block. Quilt measures 40" wide by 48" long. It is machine made and machine quilted, and includes a sleeve on the back for hanging. This quilt was made as a sample for the book Back to Basics, Templates and Patterns Explained, by my friend and colleague Pat Yamin. (Book not included in auction). There are a total of 20 'philadelphia' blocks in the quilt, made with lovely reproduction fabrics, giving it a very traditional look.   The zingy purple inner border adds a modern touch.  It is simply quilted in an overall looping meander, done with a neutral thread.  The back is a single piece of the same green fabric used in the borders. It is made from the best quality, 100% cotton quilting fabric and cotton batting.  The loose quilting in combination with the cotton batting gives this quilt a very soft feel, making it a nice snuggle quilt for a child.  It would look lovely in combination with antiques and antique decor. The materials, time and workmanship in this piece place it's value in the $200-$300 range.  It is professionally made (by me) and was featured in the book. All quilts are from a smoke-free and pet-free home. I will include instructions for hanging and maintaining your quilt for a lifetime of quilt pleasure.  This item is a handcrafted one-of-a-kind item and as such may have imperfections inherent in the handcrafting process.  I do my best to describe and show all handcrafted items but please ask any and all questions before bidding and understand this is not a mass produced item and thus exact measurements and condition cannot be guaranteed.
