It comes from the outlet store in conjunction with the Broad Bay Company Distribution Center that used to be in Fort Bragg. The skeins were labeled “irregular”, NOT because of the quality of the yarn – it was just as fine as the “regular” Scottish Heather – but because the color is only “LIKE" the color "LOGANBERRY” and therefore did not quite match the color on the color cards. Hence the name. Someone simply pushed the wrong button when mixing fiber colors. Having said this, however, I stress that the color is still a richly HEATHERED VIOLET, BLUE, and PURPLE. (A bit more violet and a bit less blue than the color shown in the picture - at least on my monitor.) And I see it as having lots of “life” just like the true “LOGANBERRY”. Just wait until you open the box and see the LUSCIOUS COLOR!!   According to the label on this yarn, it is “[p]ure Shetland wool, grown & spun in the Shetland Islands”. There are 13 skeins. Color #1920, Dye Lot #051596. All 13 are the same. All of the skeins are wound into center pull balls, but the labels for each of the skeins are also included. Each 2 oz skein has approximately 120 yards, so there is a TOTAL of 1560 YARDS IN ALL. As with any of ALICE STARMORE'S SCOTTISH HEATHER, the GAUGE is 16-22 sts and 20-24 rows to 4 in (10 cm) on US 6-8 (UK 4-5 mm) needles.   IDEAS: There is enough yarn for a LARGE SWEATER, the exact size depending on the gauge and “knitted hand” that you prefer. For some reason this yarn begs to be knit into a gorgeous Gansey. It would also make a fabulous throw, or a wonderful set of Aran garments: hat, mittens and scarf. What fantastic Holiday gifts could be made from this luscious color?   I am drastically reducing my wonderful and humongous stash and parting with lots of my favorite yarns and books, including more ALICE STARMORE.
