Description
Up for auction is a wonderful, unique, rare book, "Renaissance Patterns for Lace, Embroidery and Needlepoint...an unabridged facsimile of the 'Singuliers et nouvenaux pourtraicts' of 1587," by Federico Vinciolo. This soft covered book is in excellent condition. It has the original owner's name written in ink on the inside cover. This elderly lady owned a crafts, quilting and miniatures shop in LA many years ago and this book was part of her vast personal collection. This book measures approx. 6" x 8.5" approx. approx. 100 pages of drawings and illustrations of patterns. This book is in near MINT condition. It is a Dover Publication, copyright 1971. This book offers 98 plates of fine patterns and designs in various techniques; needlepoint, darned netting, point coupe, counted tread work and others. Thse include geometric forms, exuberant treatment of classical movis, Italian and Levantine designs, and much else that the modern worker, able to prick out a pattern, can rereate. Most of the material is nowhere else available. Vinciolo's desgins are also of interest to the graphic artist who wishes delicate yet forceful textile images.
