As with other gripper strip frames, you just position your work and press down on all sides, but then you are able to tighten your work further with a quick twist of two handles. When you are ready to move to a new area, it takes only seconds to reposition your rug. The frame weighs less than five pounds, and is easily portable to take to hook-ins. I always used this on my lap, but you can also put it on a stand if you prefer to work that way.
