Kit includes everything you need to complete this 10  1/2  X 18  1/2  inch Primitive Hooked Rug. This pattern sat on my frame for a full two days while I thought about what colors I should use. Finally I decided that I would do what I felt looked good even though you'll probably never see fish with these colors. Isn't that what folk art is about? I should keep a little wooden hammer next to my frame so that I can every now and then hit myself in the head with it. That might allow me to loosen up and go with my instincts more often. This piece, which was a lot of fun, is a pretty simple design with a great mix of beautiful wools, mostly hand dyed. The three rows of border is hooked in the old fashioned hit or miss style with a mix of beautiful shades of color. The fish are done with eggplant,  olive green, grays, rose, plum, etc. and the background with my dyed green and sky blue. This finished piece would make a great wall hanging, table centerpiece, or pillow top. These hooked rugs look great hanging from pieces of country furniture as well. This one would make a great gift for anyone with a cottage at the shore or a house near the water. Here's what you receive when you purchase this kit. It comes in an very sturdy over sized zip lock bag that's most convenient for taking it out and putting it away at your leisure. If this is your first project I would suggest a quilting hoop frame which can be purchased at any fabric store. There are more user friendly and costly frames available, but I did my first couple of rugs on a quilting hoop and then graduated to the more expensive frame.
