These are then bonded together with resin and pressed into boards in a similar way to conventional chipboard. The result is a smooth-surfaced board which is much more stable than softwoods. There are no identifiable grains or knots seen at the edge, end or face nor any internal voids or pits or variation in surface hardness. It is an environmentally friendly product as the recovery rate of the raw material is almost 100%. These are Not imports, this set of six 3/4 inch thick segments of Medium Density Fiberboard has been completely fashioned and sanded smooth in our Western New York woodshop. The dimensions of each oval plaque is 5 inches by 7 inches with a classic routed edge along the entire outside perimeter. The approximate flat surface area of each plaque is 22 square inches. Two mounting holes have also been provided in the backside of each plaque so they can be hung horizontally or vertically upon the completion of the decorating process. This item, in addition to any of our other plaques, also makes a fantastic base for displaying countless hobby or art work projects on. MDF is ideal for latex or oil painting, mosaic or ceramic art, decoupage and is an excellent foundation for veneers and laminates of all kinds. It will accept a broad range of sealers, primers, and coatings to produce a hard durable surface and is an excellent choice for a wide range of projects.
