These are then bonded together with resin and pressed into boards in a similar way to conventional chipboard. The result is a smooth-surfaced board which is much more stable than softwoods. There are no identifiable grains or knots seen at the edge, end or face nor any internal voids or pits or variation in surface hardness. It is an environmentally friendly product as the recovery rate of the raw material is almost 100%. These are Not imports, this set of three 3/4 inch thick segments of Medium Density Fiberboard been completely fashioned and sanded smooth in our Western New York woodshop. The circles have been cut on a shaper table using carbide tipped cutters to assure a crisp clean-cut round item. The plaques are 8 inches in diameter with an approximate flat surface diameter of 7-3/8 inches (42 square inches). A mounting hole has also been provided in the back of each plaque so they are ready to hang on a wall upon the completion of the decorating process if you choose the option of wall mounting. This item, in addition to any of our other plaques, also makes a fantastic base for displaying countless hobby or art work projects on. MDF is ideal for latex or oil painting, mosaic or ceramic art, decoupage and is an excellent foundation for veneers and laminates of all kinds. It will accept a broad range of sealers, primers, and coatings to produce a hard durable surface and is an excellent choice for a wide range of projects. Other diameter plaques, up to a maximum diameter of 30 inches and with or without a routed edge, are also available on request and we would be happy to add them as an auction item.
