In the 1850s Ericson built a large passenger ship powered by hot air engines. However the power to weight ratio limits its use for many purposes. It is best suited to stationary uses and is still used to power some machinery. There are two basic types of hot air engine--closed cycle and open cycle. This model is a closed cycle engine. This model is made from basic materials and is quite simple to build.Tin cans, strip and flat brass and steel wire are used. The piston and cylinder are made from a short length of copper pipe and some drawn tube.Construction in general is aimed at the amateur who does not have a lot of tools and special materials available. The average home workshopper will find it well within his capabilities. This model will stand alone as a beautiful example of early technology from the year 1913 when these plans and magazine article were published. You can mount the engine on a nice wooden base for display and fire it up to show to interested parties. You can also use it to power models such as Meccano projects and other toys and models.A really rewarding project in constructing a working engine which you can be proud of.Most impressive in action and sure to draw interest from all who see it. These plans and instructions were originally published in a 1913 publication which is now copyright expired and in the public domain. We have reprinted them for your enjoyment.Bid on this now and get to work on this great project. This is a no reserve auction so the winning bidder at the end of the auction will own these great plans.I have many more interesting items for sale.Check out my other items! click image to enlarge click image to enlarge I accept Paypal or money orders.NOT the USPS domestic money order which is marked Negotiable Only In The US.Any other money order or cashiers check is fine including the USPS INTERNATIONAL money order.Paypal payments should be made within 3 days of end of auction and other payments should arrive within 10 days.If you cannot pay within these times email me and make an arrangement.
