They were restored in the 1980's which consisted mostly of removing some 15 coats of paint. As you can tell by the pictures, it was done professionally. We have been told that it is quarter sawn, but between looking at the tiger oak and quarter sawn wood, it is hard for this novice to know the entire story. The mantels are 58 inches high and 60 inches wide. The mantel height is 50 inches from the floor, leaving a nice 10 inch rear panel. The fireplace opening is 39 inches high and 41 inches wide. We desire to sell them as a pair, since they came into the world as a pair. And let's face it, they have lasted 2 or 3 times longer than most marriages. We will let you the bidder, be the judge of their value to you. There is no reserve.  Please email us with any questions.
