  MANGO BUTTER FAIR TRADE 100g  Botanical Name Mangifera indica Plant Part Seeds Extraction Method Expeller pressed Origin India Description Mango trees (Mangifera indica ) are large, reaching 35-40 m in height, with a crown radius of 10 m. The leaves are evergreen, alternate, simple, 15-35 cm long and 6-16 cm broad; when the leaves are young they are orange-pink, rapidly changing to a dark glossy red, then dark green as they mature. The flowers are produced in terminal panicles 10-40 cm long; each flower is small and white with five petals 5-10 mm long, with a mild sweet odour suggestive of lily of the valley. Colour White Common Uses Our Mango Butter is not typically used as a stand alone product but as an additive in your lotions and beauty products. This exotic butter is extracted from the seeds of the tropical fruit tree – Manifera Indica (Mango) and comes directly from India.  It has excellent moisturizing properties with high antioxidants content, and is believe to protect against UV radiation. It should be stored in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight and has a shelf-life of approximately 2 years when stored properly. Mango Butter has natural emollient properties, and is reputed to be useful for treating burns, stretch marks, scar reduction, wound healing and skin regeneration – smoothing of wrinkles. Mango butter is great for use in body/lip balms, or in soaps and lotions. Melts at skin temperatures. It reduces the drying effects of soaps and cleansers. It has been the national fruit of India, Bangladesh and Philippines. Reference to mangoes as the "food of the gods" can be found in the Hindu Vedas and the leaves are ritually used for floral decorations at Hindu marriages and religious ceremonies.
