Instead of a single treadle as on the standard S10 wheel, the S1ODT is equipped with a double treadle (DT). This double treadle works like a bicycle, both feet go in opposite directions. It allows for light, relaxed, two foot treadling. It's careful design has proven it to be an ideal wheel for beginners and experts alike. Sturdily constructed, it is suitable for production spinners. The single hole in the wheel leads to a balanced flywheel, which ensures, that the wheel always stops in the place where you stop. A matching skein-winder with a foldable cross is available as an accessory.Certainly the best features of the Louet wheels are that they treadle lightly, are easy to learn on and can be modified to satisfy the expert spinners. The orifice on this wheel is sufficiently large; 12.5 mm (1/2"), as are the bobbins (180-250 gr. capacity); to allow you to create novelty yarns. A Wide Flyer and Bulky Bobbins are also available for this wheel to accommodate spinning bulkier yarns. The fly wheel is 50 cm (20") in diameter. Each wheel comes equipped with a two bobbin lazy kate. Each wheel has a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the tension. The flexible belts are made of polyurethane and never have to be adjusted. All bobbins have a sheave with three settings on one side, that can be used to obtain three spinning speeds. The ratios are: 1: 5.5 for slow spinning and heavy yarn, 1: 7.5 for medium yarn and 1:10.5 for fast spinning and fine yarn. A High Speed Set is also available for this wheel for easier spinning of very fine yarns. This 8 kg (18 lb) wheel is made of laminated hardwood with a "birch" exterior finish. Finally, an excellent spinning wheel must turn freely and quietly. Accordingly we use maintenance-free ball bearings in the main hub and at the footman connection. (No lubrication is required). The spinning wheels are disassembled to the extent that they can be packed flat and shipped economically. The assembly consists of tightening two nuts for which tools and instructions are included. Hilltop Gardens and More Pavilion, New York 14525 http://stores.ebay.com/Hilltop-Gardens-and-More Contact: Barbara Beach Email: kkbbeach@aol.com Phone: 585-584-3077 We are located in Pavilion, New York among the rolling hills of Wyoming County. A family owned business; we have operated at this location since 1978. After a few years of researching and visiting other farms, we added Alpacas to the therapeutic animals and other animals on our farm. Family members had for many years knitted and crocheted appreciating fine and unusual yarns. Now, as fiber animal owners, we began to acquire knowledge, acquaintances, interest in having our own fiber made ready for use in our creations and for others that appreciated (especially the spinners and felters). Our frustrations seemed to be shared with other fiber animal owners in that if you did find a source to get your own fiber back it was so far away that you felt you were kind of sending your precious animal’s fiber into the big unknown, hoping that someday in the far, far future you might get it back. We embarked on our quest to find the path that would work for us and other alpaca and other fiber animal owners. We learned that the raw fiber that was precious to us as animal owners also was appreciated by fiber artists in its carded form (batts and roving). We then learned how we could prepare our own fiber for that use. This led us to the Equipment Lines we are now carrying, quality, well known equipment that produce a product that is far superior to many carders on the market. . In our research we got many glowing referrals from the fiber artists that had used these product lines. This led us to be proud dealers of these lines.
