We're a small manufacturer of fine knitting and weaving products located just outside of Chicago. Our mainstays are our yarn swifts and warping boards, but we have recently become inflicted with the Kumihimo bug (a very bad case indeed) and have begun making handcrafted Marudai's. This marudai was very skillfully handcrafted by Benjamin Everingham from premium poplar. Specifications:This Mini Poplar Marudai stands 13" tall with a base that measures 8"x 8 " . The mirror is 7 3/4" in diameter with a 1 1/4" opening. This Marudai was finished with a coat of a natural stain finish just to add a coat of protections because we never like to leave wood bare. We also put rubber pads on the bottom to prevent the marudai from sliding on your braiding surface. We have dubbed this the "travel model," because it is very simple to break it down for ease of storage or travel! Along with this marudai, you will receive 8-40 gram tama, a dowel, s-hook, a counterweight bag (color and pattern may vary from picture), and simple instructions on how to make some beginner braids. All you will need is some fiber and counterweights. We used rocks, but coins, or fishing weights work well too. Note: We do not include assembly instructions, as there is so little involved that they seemed redundant.
