Description
Dry Black Walnut Two Piece Gunstock Blank This quarter sawn blank was cut from a local dryland wild Black walnut tree. It has tight growth rings and somewhat quilted fiddleback, with a lot of movement. The matching fore end was cut from the same tree and is perfectly sawn - quarter sawn on two opposite faces and slab sawn on two opposite faces. Minimum Buttstock Length: 16 3/4", Thickness: 2 5/8", Width: 4 5/16" - 7 3/8". Fore end: 12 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" Air dried 3 years to 10% (or less) moisture content. Ready to work. No checks or defects. First photos in sunlight wet with alcohol. Payment and Shipping DetailsYou can bid with confidence on all of our auctions. If we do not accurately describe or photograph an item, you may return it and we will even pay the shipping both ways. We plane each piece and do not leave any wax or heavy sealer on our dry wood to hide defects. The only reason for not removing the sealer from a dry piece of wood is to hide defects. If a piece of wood is dry, it does not need sealer on the end grain. We only apply some clear finish to some of our wood to show the buyer what he can expect from the completed project. If you buy wood from others and the end grain is hidden with a heavy coat of wax, be prepared to be very disappointed. Also, we always remove any end checks, regardless of how small. Sometimes these minor checks will increase in size on the inside of the blank and the entire piece will be unsuitable for any project. Never buy any blanks without seeing a photograph of the end grain with the sealer removed - no exceptions. We start all our auctions at 99 cents with no reserve and let the bidder determine the final value.PayPal or Money Order preferred; personal checks accepted but item will be held until check clears. Buyer is responsible for UPS shipping to be determined by zip code (except to Alaska and Hawaii where USPS will be used). If possible, I am happy to combine S&H costs when you win in multiple auctions. (Dissimilar sized items - aka shotgun or rifle gun stock blank, lumber or large turning squares - don't pack well together and may have to be shipped separately.)No international bidders, PLEASE! We just are not comfortable with shipping overseas, or even to Canada.Buyer should respond within 3 days and payment should be made within 10 days of auction's end. I ship within one day of receiving payment, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Please visit my "About Me" page for additional useful information.-->
