leatherwise Store The leather you see here is one very soft, supple, somewhat firm, very light weight and very strong SIDE OF COWHIDE IN BRIGHT RED, SUPERBLY EMBOSSED WITH A CLASSIC TOOLED WESTERN FLORAL DESIGN AND WITH A LIGHT, SEMI GLOSS FINISH. IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE LEATHER WAS HAND-TOOLED BY A MASTER CRAFTSMAN. IT'S JUST BEAUTIFUL, AS WILL ANYTHING YOU MAKE FROM IT BE.Please see the close up below for the EXQUISITE detail in this hide. This leather is soft enough to be sewn on a good machine. It's ideal for handbags, purses, motorcycle seats, satchels, briefcases, book covers, trim, cuffs and collars on show clothes, upholstery, costumes, etc. It runs 2-3 oz. and totals approximately 21 sq. ft. This hide will need to be rubbed down and sealed with Resolene or some other leather sealer, as some of the dye does come off. It wasn't quite finished perfectly at the tannery, though the leather and the embossing are perfect.THIS IS AN AMAZING PIECE OF LEATHER. DON'T MISS IT! This type of designer leather generally goes for between $8-12/sq.ft., if you can even get it. It refers to the total area of leather in a hide. For instance, a hide that measures 24” X 36”( a typical lambskin) = 864”÷ 144”(12” X 12”) = 6 sq.ft.
