Description
This "As if by Magic" kit will enable you to create eight unique shells using no molds and no paint - only a lump of beige clay, some bits of colored clay and your hands to form each one. Polymer clay is a non-toxic, man-made art medium for brand new artistic expression. All you need are your hands, a flat surface, a kitchen oven, my instructions and most importantly your desire to try something brand new. Also included are two of my finished shells for you to use as models, to display, or just to enjoy. Each of your shells will be different - just like shells you might find on a sandy beach. So you'll be able to use them as you would real ones collected on vacation to make a necklace, or a set of earrings, magnets for your refrigerator, to embellish a picture frame, or simply displayed loosely in bowl of sand or pebbles which is my favorite way. My young grandsons and I have spent many hours making these shells together. I use this activity to talk about the creation and many other related topics. It has been wonderful to see their skill and knowledge grow these past few years. This has been a truly unique way for my boys and I to capture the essence of a gastropod and connect with the environment. But most of all, we have fun together. Please read the posted feedback from previous purchasers of this "kit". These also are being sold in select art, science and history museums. For children under 8, this kit should be used under adult supervision. "Years ago I took hundreds of live shells from the tidal flats of Florida - just for their shell homes. With the passage of time wisdom came of what I'd done - along with regret which gave way to forgiveness and from this fertile matrix these "Guiltless Shells" appeared as if by magic."
