He inherited this several years back and never got around to using it for his own projects. I don't think he knew what a treasure he had on hand until we talked. I actually paid him more than he was asking for the wood and was grateful to be able to get it.Unlike normal redwood burl, this is hard and dense wood. This is some beautiful old growth redwood burl the likes of which you rarely see these days. As you fine sand this wood the figure will stand out even more with a metallic reflective sheen that seems to move about beneath the surface of the wood. The template in the photos is a cardboard cutout from an outline of a Stratocaster. It is to help visualize how this set would look if used for an electric guitar top.
