This is some oldstock redwood burl that has been stashed away for over 40 years. I just bought a batch of this from the grandson of a furniture maker who made fine furniture back in the 60s. He inherited this several years back and never got around to using it for his own projects. I don't think he knew what a treasure he had on hand until we talked. I actually paid him more than he was asking for the wood and was grateful to be able to get it.Unlike normal redwood burl, this is hard and dense wood. This is some beautiful old growth redwood burl the likes of which you rarely see these days. As you fine sand this wood the figure will stand out even more with a metallic reflective sheen that seems to move about beneath the surface of the wood.
