While size most definitely matters in any fall or winter harvested pods, in the Spring with superior quality pods, this is not true.  In fact, overall, the smaller the better.  The smaller pods from my harvest in general, are far more beautiful and have the richest aroma of any pods each year.  Overall from my Spring harvest each year, the smaller have the richest aroma of any pods on the market. These are quite nice because unlike the totally developed large or jumbo seed pods, most of these have not completed the drying cycle.  That is, most of them have not moved through the stages of drying naturally while on the plant.  A completely and totally dried pod that will last for years to come in your floral designs are the ones that are totally tan to golden brown or have vented crowns.  Note that all Triplehalf spring pods are from the same farm, same seeds and same harvest.   Triplehalf dried florals are the finest available each year.  As you can see in the photos, these are nice-sized pods.  They are less expensive also than the larger pods.  For those wanting to spend less but still get superior quality, these are an excellent choice.   click images to view larger and in greater detail Photos and art copyright 2008 Texasthrift.com© - Do not use without permission.
